BENEFIT INFO

The Love Show is partnering once again with some worthy causes to try and use our collective might to do some good!

  • We’re collecting cans of food for the Oregon Food Bank at both events and all month longTell your friends, tell your boss, tell your grocery store… Let’s feed some hungry folks together- you never know, the people who benefit from the food bank are often closer to you than you think.
  • We are donating 5% of art sales to Zimbabwe Artists Project, a fantastic arts-based non-profit located in the Olympic Mills; they have kindly agreed to let us hang art on their wall during the love show and one of their artists is prominently featured on our show card.
  • We are donating 10% of alcohol profits & 5% of art sales to the American Red Cross Haiti Disaster Relief fund.
You can contribute RIGHT NOW by texting “Haiti” to 90999 to send a $10 donation.

ARTWORK DETAILS

  • one piece per artist only, any media, 5 ft x 5 ft max (please, don’t all make work this big!!)
  • Wired & ready to hang (not pinned to the wall, not clips, not a cleat, no saw-tooth- a WIRE please- See How-To Here, we can consult with you if you need help with this part)
  • Labeled in a removable fashion with your TITLE, NAME, PHONE & EMAIL

TERMS FOR SALES & EXHIBITING

  • You do not need to sell your work, but if you do, here’s the basic breakdown:
  • We will take a 40% commission on work sold- 10% to charity, 30% towards overhead and supporting Portland City Art & Launch Pad
  • Your artwork will actually be insured! Your work is insured for 60% of listed value (the percentage that you would make if it sold) up to $1000.
  • Artists will be paid within 30 days of the CLOSE of the show, if not sooner. (I will personally strive to pay everyone ASAP, as I know we all need the money)
  • You MUST pick up your piece at the end of the show. The best days to pick up are March 14th & 15th 11am-6pm, when we will have staff there to assist you, and the work will still be on the wall.

If you fail to pick up your work during those times, we will be forced to find storage for it, increasing the likely hood that it will be damaged exponentially, and you will need to schedule an appointment with Chris or John to come get it at their convenience.

Your work becomes property of the Love Show on March 27th, 2010, to do whatever we want with it.
Furthermore, artists who abandon their work without communicating with us will not be welcome in future Launch Pad shows.

STUFF WE NEED FROM YOU

Before the opening:
As soon as you finish your piece, please send us an in-focus 72 dpi .jpg image of your piece along with artwork info in the following format to loveshow5@launchpadgallery.org so we can post it on the website!
(it would be handy if it’s 1000 px on it’s longest side)

When you drop off your work:
This show’s overhead is pretty high, especially since we don’t have the side room that we did last year and the show has grown by 50%, so we need to build out walls to hold all of your artwork and that’s going to be a lot of wood!

So…
We would like you to pitch in $5.00 towards posters, cards, permits and all of the random stuff that goes into producing a large event. If you cannot afford it, please contact me and we will work something out, no problem.

We will also need a completed consignment form

<Love show 2010 consignment form- CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD

There will be a limited number of blank forms available when you drop off, but it’d be faster and easier if you print and fill out the form before you bring in your piece.

At the Opening
Historically, the Love show has been a potluck.
What speaks to every single person more than food? With so many people losing their jobs and this years show being a benefit for Oregon Food Bank, we hope that you will bring a delicious dish of scrumptious food to share with your admiring public as well as A CAN OF FOOD for the Food Bank. You don’t have to spend a lot of money or get super fancy, just plan on bringing something that you personally like to eat and want to share.

*** Food service/grocery workers, see if you can get your job to donate extra food to bring to the opening! We are glad to list them on the site as a supporter for a significant donation, as well as give a tax ID receipt.

We’re working on print materials currently, but in the meantime, please post/blog/email etc your own invite using your love show piece. Please include a link back to the love show home page.

FOR OUT OF TOWN ARTISTS
How awesome to have you in this show! Last year we had quite a few people mail in work from near and far, and it’s a treat to have you involved! Help us by carefully reading the following information.

Here are the specifics that apply to you:

  • You pay shipping both ways, please.
Pre-printed mailing labels are the most convenient method & it’s a good idea to include tracking capabilities and innsurance. Feel free to include business cards or show cards for us to put out.

If your piece doesn’t sell, I will strive to mail your piece back to you within two weeks of the close of the show. I’ll try to include some show cards as well for your files. Please be sure to include a removable label on your piece, and make your $5 check out to ‘Launch Pad Gallery’

  • NOTE: You must get the work to me on time, by FRIDAY February 5th at the latest!!Because the gallery hours are sparse, I would like you to mail your piece to my home address:Launch Pad Gallery
    c/o Ben Pinkowitz
    5217 NE 14th Pl.
    Portland, OR 97211

I will email you when I’ve received it.
Thanks so much! It’s like Christmas in February when all the art arrives!
(If you feel like it, include a note about how you heard about this show)
